Athletics
Athletics help make up the total school program
and need to be an integral part of the curriculum. Covenant Christian School
wishes to furnish the opportunity for each individual to develop himself in
athletic skills through participation.
Participation in athletics helps improve
and enrich the lives of the participant. If the athletic program is to serve
its maximum purposes, the following objectives will be adhered to:
- The athletic program
will produce in the participant’s endurance, alertness, strength and coordination.
- The athletic program
will be formed using the youth’s natural desire for physical activity and
play to ensure social adjustment and the development of proper health habits.
- The athletic program
will be administered as a part of the curriculum under complete control
and direction of the school board and administration.
- The athletic program
will be planned and carried out so that it will make an educational contribution
to the lives of the participants and spectators.
- The athletic program
will make every effort to secure maximum participation.
- The athletic program
will secure the health and physical welfare of the individual participant
including proper training, health habits, protective equipment, equitable
competition and a limit on participation.
- The athletic program
will teach the proper respect for and the observance of rules and policies
under which the school program is conducted and operated.
- The athletic program
will teach participating students and non-participating student’s game ethics
and proper conduct at sports events.
- The athletic program
will include the proper understanding and appreciation of the skills of
each sport and the reason for adhering to the principles of fair play.
- The athletic program
will be a means for developing school and community spirit.
- The athletic program
will seek to glorify God by developing excellence in individual and team
skills and by demonstrating grace as players and teammates.
The athletic program will be a means for
developing school and community spirit. All games are subject to change.
