The athletic program at CCS is a key component of a student athlete’s spiritual development. Our coaches view themselves as mentors and are dedicated to modeling Christ-like behavior to our athletes. Student/athletes strive for excellence, but do this in the spirit of fair play. Our goals are to compete at the highest levels possible and be champions, but more importantly, to exemplify Christ’s character to everyone who sees us. Representing CCS on the field of play is a privilege and with it comes the responsibility of demonstrating Christ-

like behavior. We teach our student/athletes to face adversity and the challenge of competition, while playing for our audience of one – who is Jesus Christ. Our ultimate goals are to strive to be champions, but more importantly champions for Christ.

Message from Our Athletic Director:

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to Covenant Christian Eagles athletics. We look forward to many exciting athletic events throughout the year. Our varsity sports teams compete in Class 1A in the Alabama High School Athletic Association. Covenant Christian fields teams in the following sports: cross country, volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, and tennis. We hope that you will support each of our teams and cheerleaders as we try to represent Covenant Christian in a manner that would be pleasing to God.

Our coaches have been working very diligently, as have our student-athletes, in their off season preparations for their particular Eagle sport’s upcoming season. We thank them for these quality efforts as they continue to perform to the best of their abilities while unfailingly representing Covenant Christian in an extremely positive and sportsmanlike manner on the athletic field or court. With that important idea in mind, we again remind you of the need for all members of the Covenant family to promote and observe the important values of Christian and sportsmanlike behavior as exhibited both on the playing field and in the stands! Be a good sport!

Our Eagles Athletic Boosters organization continues to be extremely successful in its very important fund raising activities each year. Please be generous in your support of their efforts to support our athletes and improve our facilities. We thank you in advance for your patronage of our advertisers that have purchased ads for our program.

Be sure to give our athletes a pat on the back for their hard work and commitment to CCS athletics. We greatly appreciate your attendance at CCS home contests and trust that you will cheer heartily for the Eagles to have an enjoyable athletic experience.

Go Eagles!

Importance of Athletics

We believe that athletics is critical to the education of our students. It is on the athletic fields and courts where lessons such as teamwork, overcoming obstacles and adversity, sacrifice, and selflessness are best taught. At Covenant, our priorities in athletics are that our student-athletes grow spiritually from the experience of competing on our teams, that they learn to compete with a relentless spirit, that they develop great fundamentals and techniques, and they learn how to win and lose with class and dignity.

We offer baseball, basketball, cheerleading, softball, cross country, tennis and volleyball.

Covenant Christian School is a member of the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) and competes in Class 1A. For more information on the AHSAA, please visit their website at

Students coming to Covenant in grades 8-12 are considered transfer students and must meet certain criteria set by the AHSAA in order to become athletically eligible.
