GOD'S BLESSINGS

At CCS, we believe that everything comes from God's hand.  Listed below are some personal and group achievements for our school in academics, athletics, and student life activities that we wanted to spotlight in order to show how God has blessed our school in many areas.

ACADEMICS

  • From 2002-2015 our 228 graduates have been offered $8,976,867 in college scholarships

  • 2 National Merit Scholars and 2 Commended Students

  • CCS students consistently score above the state average on the ACT

  • Ranked 22nd best private school in Alabama-  Highest ranking school in the Shoals area.

  • Ranked 9th Top Best Christian school in AL by Niche.com

  • Students have the opportunity to gain college credit through taking courses UNA, University of Alabama Early College Programs, and dual enrollment at Northwest Shoals Community College

  • Jackie Stutts, CCS Chemistry Teacher, was the recipient of "The Thomas P. Murray Outstanding High School Chemistry Teacher Of The Year Award"

  • Madison Holland won 3rd place at the Wilson Dam Section of the American Chemical Society Chemistry exam competition

  • ACSI Spelling Bee in Huntsville Winners:

    • Leyton Marlar placed 3rd overall in the first grade 

    • Faith South placed 3rd overall in the second grade 

    • Darby Kennamer placed 2nd  overall in the third grade 

  • Lexie Gann won "Superior on the Regional Level" and will have her poetry published in the ACSI Southeast Region Creative Writing Book. 

  • National Latin Exam Winners:

    • Madison Holland, 11th grade won Maxima Cum Laude silver medal and certificate in Latin II.

    • Abby Richardson, 10th grade won the Maxima Cum Laude silver medal and certificate in Latin I.

    • Lexie Gann won Cum Laude certificate in Latin I.

    • Covenant Christian School received the "Certificate of Merit"

ATHLETICS

  • Volleyball 

    • Sweet 16 - 2004, 2006, 2009, 2012​

    • Area Champions (State Playoffs) - 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2015Area Runner-up (State Playoffs) - 2011, 2014

    • Corey West was named Honorable Mention to the All-Area Volleyball Team

  • Boys Basketball

    • Area Runner-up (State Playoffs) - 2006-2007, 2013-2014, 2014-2015, 2015-2016

    • 2016 Athens Bible Tournament Champions2016 Colbert County Tournament Runner-up

    • Sam Griffin was named to the All-Area and 2nd Team All-State Basketball Teams.  Sam signed to play basketball at the University of North Alabama beginning in the fall of 2016.

    • Tye Brown was named Honorable Mention to the All-Area Basketball Team.

  • Girls Basketball

    • Elite 8 - 2013-14Sweet Sixteen - 2009-2010Area Champions (State Playoffs) - 2013-2014Area Runner-up (State Playoffs) - 2004-2005, 2009-2010

    • 2016 Athens Bible Tournament Champions

    • Lexie Gann was named Honorable Mention to the All-Area Basketball team

  • Baseball

    • Elite 8 - 2007Area Champions (State Playoffs) - 2007Area Runner-up (State Playoffs) - 2005, 2007, 2010, 2016

    • Sam Griffin was named to the 2nd Team All-Area.

    • John David Lawler and Brady Finch were named All-Area Honorable Mention.

  • Softball

    • Area Runner-up (State Playoffs) - 2005, 2007, 2010

    • Lexi Gann was named to the All-Area Team and 2nd Team All-State.  

    • Kayla Kennamore was named to the 2nd Team All-Area.

    • Taylor Lindsey was named Honorable Mention to the All-Area Softball Team.

  • Cross Country

    • Colbert County Champions 2012 & 2013

    • Christian Poag was County Champion and placed 7th in the State Meet.  Christian was also named to the All-Area and All-State Cross Country Teams.  He signed to run with the University of North Alabama in the fall of 2016.

  • CCS was given the AHSAA Sportsmanship Award in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015

STUDENT LIFE

  • Covenant Robotics Team has been awarded a spot to compete at The South's BEST Competition at Auburn University for two consectutive years.

  • The First Fruits Garden was started in 2015 to provide a teaching opportunity as well as fresh food for our school and community.

  • CCS's Rocket Team was founded in 2016 for our highs school students.

  • Each year, the students participate in a Spiritual Emphasis Week in which there is a theme, time to honor local pastors, and guest speakers.

  • CCS provides chapel services each week in addition to our Bible curriculum for every grade in the school.  

  • In the fall, the Senior Class hosts and performs in a Dinner Theatre for the community.

  • There are many opportunities for class trips throughout each student's time at Covenant.  Our 4th grade travels to Montgomery, AL, the 5th grade takes an overnight trip to Desoto Caverns to sleep in a cave, the 8th graders spend a week in Washington D.C., and the Senior class visits New York City each spring.

  • The CCS Mentoring Program assigns each elementary aged child with an older student with which they do monthly service projects.

  • The Student of the Month Program recognizes 3 students from our elementary grades
