Introducing Dr. Campbell

After extensive interviews, Dr. Lee Stewart Campbell was selected by our board to serve as our new Head of School. In addition to us picking him, he also selected us over another offer in Florida, sensing God’s calling to Covenant. Dr. Campbell is moving to the Shoals in July after long stints in Acworth, GA and then Hiram, GA. He was at his last two schools eight and then eleven years.

Our new Head of School states, “The Covenant team of parents, students, faculty, staff, coaches, and board members have created a legacy any Christian leader would be proud to inherit. Great things have been accomplished with God’s help. Together, we must trust Him to build Covenant’s future. For me, “together” is the key word – we are a team and we want to win spiritually, academically, athletically and artistically for the sake of our nation’s future – its children. Before time began God chose us to be together for this next season to do great things for Him and His children.” Dr. Campbell will be working to get to know the Covenant family in July. He is planning parent and student focus groups coming up in the late summer and fall to get to know you and to hear your concerns and your dreams for our school.

Dr. Lee Campbell is excited to be joining the team at Covenant Christian School and is excited about living in The Shoals. He has successfully served as the Head of a Christian School where he, with his staff and faculty, saw God bring a forty-percent growth in enrollment, new buildings, and improved education outcomes, including one hundred percent average annual college acceptance, improved SAT scores, and new accreditations. Greatschool.org picked his school as one of the top fifty Christian schools in the nation several years ago. Dr. Campbell’s whole family loves sports and he counts it as a blessing from God to have seen his school’s teams, especially basketball, go to state multiple time and bring home many trophies.  He has both experience and degrees in all three domains of private Christian education: Education, Ministry, and Business. He has a reputation of a passionate student advocate. Dr. Campbell has led or served on several accreditation teams for Alabama schools. His dream is to work with Covenant’s team of parents, students, faculty, staff, and supporters to take the school to the next level and beyond.

Dr. Campbell is from Anderson, S.C., an area where his family has lived for generations. His mom and dad still live there. His dad, Stewart Campbell, age ninety, still plays golf regularly. Dr. Campbell enjoys outdoor activities, including kayaking, cycling, boating, and hunting. He is also an artist. He has been married to Sherry Snyder Campbell, MS LPC of Littlestown, PA, for twenty-five years. Her father was just chosen as citizen of the year in their hometown. She holds certificates as a School Counselor and Lower School Principal. She is a also a Licensed Professional Counselor. Sherry is an award-winning Varsity Girls Basketball Coach and was a starter all four years in college. They have three children, all of whom graduated from private Christian high school. Elisha Stewart Campbell is a graduate of Mercer University and is a graduate student at the University of West Georgia and a Second Lieutenant in the Army National Guard. John Lewis Kealer Campbell is a junior at Mercer University. Their youngest, Callie Ann Summer Campbell, plays basketball at Toccoa Falls College, where she will be a sophomore this fall. One of their favorite vacation spots over the years has been Orange Beach.

When ask what words he would have for his new family at Covenant, Dr. Campbell stated, “Jesus and together are the first words that come to my mind because we can’t do it without Him and each other.” He also stated to encourage families to both reenroll and tell a friend about Covenant. Dr. Campbell is praying for our school. Please pray for him at this time of exciting change and join the Board of Directors in welcoming him to the Covenant Christian School family.
